Former Arsenal and Villarreal winger Robert Pires is set to team up with Premier League outfit Aston Villa.
The Frenchman, who has been training with the Gunners to maintain his fitness, is hoping to win a short-term deal at Villa Park.
After winning two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the 2002 Footballer of the Year award during his trophy-laden stay in north London, the 37-year-old is keen to extend his stay in England after leaving the Spanish outfit recently.
Villa assistant manager Gary McAllister is confident Pires can enhance the Villans' young squad with his wealth of experience.
"Robert has been training at Arsenal," he said.
"I know the boss and Arsene Wenger are very friendly and I believe he's going to join us in the next two or three days.
"It's perfect. I am sure he will arrive at the training ground in good condition. He's a player everyone can look up to because of what he has achieved."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
