The punters in the Transfer Tavern have been appreciating how much better Stoke City have become since Mark Hughes has come in.
Despite their struggles in kicking off this season, the Potters have not only got better results, they are playing a more attractive and expansive brand of football on the whole.
There are a lot of players in the Stoke squad, such as Marko Arnautovic and Jack Butland who have been on the receiving end of a lot of plaudits for their performances in the the club’s colours.
Still, there are a few that go unnoticed, despite their good work in helping the club progress from the previously unfashionable outfit that first hit the Premier League.
They are players who will be making a large contribution for the club this season, but maybe don’t get the accreditation that they deserve from punters across the taverns of England.
With that in mind, here are THREE Stoke City players who are underrated.
Jonathan Walters
While Walters may not start every game for Stoke now, but the Irishman is still a very useful player for both his club and country.
He is a brilliant player to come off of the bench and help to win a game or hold out when his team is in the lead.
However, he is often forgotten about and there are a lot of people who don’t give him as much attention as he maybe deserves, due to what he does now as well as how good he has been in the past.
Joe Allen
Joe Allen is a good technical footballer, who has brilliant work rate and can be a very useful maestro to have in your side.
He showed that with his performances for Wales this summer, which earned him a place in the Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament.
Still, after Brendan Rodgers’ “Welsh Xavi” comments, Allen has become a bit of a laughing stock on social media and his footballing skill has been forgotten by most.
He will be looking to change that now that he has signed for Stoke.
Bojan
He hasn’t had the career that a lot of people expected to have when he came through the La Masia academy and that is the main thing that is spoken about whenever Bojan is brought up in conversation.
However, even if he hasn’t fulfilled that early potential, the Spaniard is still a brilliant technical player and is someone who is capable of exciting fans.
The forward is capable of game-changing moments and whenever a team is playing against him they should be wary of his threat.
